Over the last twenty years Alex has appeared in some of the biggest television shows of the 

modern era and worked with some of the world’s most distinguished directors of theatre, 

television and film: Sir Peter Hall, Sir Richard Eyre, Michael Apted, Johan Renck, Daniel 

Evans, Sir Nicholas Hytner et al. Along the way he has played opposite a raft of equally 

distinguished actors including Jim Broadbent, Imelda Staunton, Helen Mirren, Kim Cattrall, 

Michael Pennington, Timothy Spall, Ruth Wilson and Dominic West. 

 

In 2025, Alex joined the cast of Apple TV’s global hit show Ted Lasso, playing the scheming 

Hugo Riddles alongside the one-and-only Tracey Ullman. 

 

In 2026, Alex joined the cast of James’ Graham’s new play The Standard of Living, the world 

premiere of which opened at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket on 21st September. 

 

Alex’s television credits include the final two seasons of the multiple Golden Globe and Emmy 

award-winning The Crown (Netflix) playing Stephen Lamport, private secretary to the Prince of 

Wales; a memorable turn in the Emmy-nominated Andor (Disney+); another memorable 

appearance in the Golden Globe and Emmy winner Chernobyl (HBO/Sky); and a well-

remembered performance in the BAFTA-nominated Mrs Wilson (BBC). In 2024, Alex played 

opposite Sophie Turner in Joan, Richard Laxton’s highly acclaimed six-part drama for ITV – 

adapted for the screen by Anna Symon. He has also appeared in debbie tucker green’s BAFTA-

winning television film Random (C4); Tom Hooper’s BAFTA and Emmy award-winning 

television film Longford (HBO) as well as Prime Suspect VII (ITV); Pinochet’s Last Stand (C4) 

and The Crimson Field (BBC) not to mention a host of stalwart British television dramas 

including New Tricks (BBC); Holby City (BBC); Midsommer Murders (ITV); Silent Witness 

(BBC) and Father Brown (BBC).  

  

Alex’s film credits include Charlixcx’s mockumentary movie The Moment directed by Aidan 

Zamiri; Finding Your Feet directed by Richard Loncraine; The Children Act directed by Sir 

Richard Eyre and Amazing Grace directed by the late, great Michael Apted.  

 

On stage Alex has appeared in the first ever staging of Albert Camus’ novel L’Etranger in 

English, adapted by Ben Okri for the Coronet in Notting Hill; Stravinsky’s L’Histoire Du Soldat 

 

directed by Alessandro Talevi for Opera di Firenze; Torvald in Ibsen’s A Doll’s House directed by 

Rachel O’Riordan for the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff, as well as Alan Bennett’s Single Spies at 

the Rose Theatre, Kingston; Henry IV Parts I & II directed by Sir Peter Hall for the Theatre 

Royal in Bath; Antony & Cleopatra directed by Janet Suzman for the Playhouse in Liverpool and 

An Enemy of the People directed by Daniel Evans at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.  

  

Alex read English at Cambridge and trained as an actor at the London Academy of Music and 

Dramatic Art (LAMDA), graduating in 2003.
